Post-Publication Discussions
EBGC welcomes scholarly discussion of its published articles and corrects errors in the published record promptly, following Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance.
Comments and Discussion
Readers may send comments, questions, or critiques about a published article through the Contact page. Comments must be scholarly, supported by evidence, and courteous. The editor forwards substantive comments to the corresponding author, who may respond. Significant comments may be published as a Letter to the Editor together with the authors’ response.
Concerns about an Article
Concerns such as possible errors, plagiarism, fabricated data, duplicate publication, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or authorship disputes are handled under the Allegations of Misconduct policy.
Types of Post-Publication Notices
- Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum): for honest errors that do not change the findings. An erratum corrects an error made by the journal; a corrigendum corrects an error made by the authors.
- Expression of Concern: when the evidence is unclear or an investigation is ongoing.
- Retraction: when the findings are unreliable because of major error or misconduct, as described in the Withdrawal and Retraction Policy.
All notices are linked to the original article, freely accessible, and reflected in the Crossref metadata. Published articles are never changed silently.
Authors’ Responsibility
Authors who find a significant error in their published article must inform the editor promptly and cooperate in publishing a correction or retraction.
